About the workplace
At Olympia, you join a professional staffing organisation with an entrepreneurial, collegial atmosphere and strong ambitions. Olympia states that there is no room for discrimination and that everyone is welcome, regardless of age, background, faith, gender, sexual orientation or nationality. The HR department has approximately 20 colleagues and is led by the HR Manager. As an HR Absence Management Intern, you report to Roel van Gorkum, Manager Absence Management, and join a committed team. Your current base is Hoofddorp; from February 2027, the location will be Amsterdam-Zuidoost. The office is accessible by public transport from, for example, Utrecht, Haarlem or The Hague.
What you will do
This is a practical work-placement internship in which you join the HR Absence Management team from day one. You learn how HR, absence management and reintegration work in practice, gain increasing responsibility and work with experienced colleagues on real absence cases. Each day is different and you can explore your interests and talents.
- Support daily absence and reintegration activities.
- Support HR and absence administration.
- Contact Olympia branches and franchisees.
- Manage your own caseload under supervision.
- Support employees and organisations during the absence and reintegration process.
- Contribute ideas on HR and absence-related questions.
You do not need to know everything yet. Olympia values curiosity, questions and willingness to learn. As the internship progresses, you receive more room to handle tasks independently.
What you will learn
You gain insight into HR absence management and learn how absence guidance and reintegration work in practice.
- How the absence process works within an organisation.
- How to guide employees and organisations during absence and reintegration.
- How to communicate with different people involved.
- How to handle confidential information and absence files carefully.
- How to take on tasks and cases more independently.
This is explicitly a practical work-placement internship, not a research internship. An assignment from your programme is welcome, but the focus is on contributing, learning and gaining practical experience.
