The role
At Nederlandse Spoorwegen, you would work as a sales assistant at AH to go at Amsterdam Amstel station. Travellers are often in a hurry but still want quick, helpful service. You would help customers with their purchases, keep the shop in order and work with a diverse team of Dutch- and English-speaking colleagues. The station environment is dynamic, with ongoing activity and shared responsibility for helping travellers shop quickly and comfortably.
Availability and requirements
Your schedule is flexible and agreed with the manager. Nederlandse Spoorwegen is looking for sales assistants for day and evening shifts from 10:00 until no later than 23:30. A shift lasts a maximum of 8 hours. Because of the work at this location, you must be at least 18 years old. Dutch at level B1 is required. You work a fixed number of hours per week with flexible shifts; this is not a nine-to-five job.
What you will do
- Help customers quickly with a fresh filled sandwich. If the croissants have run out, bake them off.
- Restock the shelves and keep the shop looking neat. This includes unloading deliveries and facing products so everything is in order.
- Work as part of the team so travellers can shop quickly and pleasantly.
What Nederlandse Spoorwegen offers
- If you are 21 or older, you earn € 14,99 gross per hour, excluding any allowances. If you are younger than 21, the youth wage under the CAO VGL applies.
- There is a possibility of receiving a permanent contract after 7 months.
- You work a fixed number of hours per week and receive flexible shifts.
- You work in the dynamic station environment with friendly colleagues and can receive up to 60% discount at various station shops.
- A possible travel-cost contribution is available up to € 10,50 per day from 10 km. Parking costs are not reimbursed and there are no fixed parking spaces unless otherwise indicated.
- If you want to combine work and learning at MBO level 3 or 4, you may be able to follow a BBL programme. An induction programme includes a buddy system and onboarding app.
Applying and the procedure
You should be able to reach the location within 30 minutes without public transport, because public transport does not always run in the early morning or late evening. Nederlandse Spoorwegen highlights diversity and inclusion in its hiring policy. This vacancy is intended for direct recruitment of a new colleague and is not an acquisition call.
After your application is received, Nederlandse Spoorwegen will let you know within 2 weeks whether you will continue in the procedure. The next step is a telephone or video intake interview. If that goes well, you will be invited to a follow-up interview at the branch with the manager; after that, you may join Nederlandse Spoorwegen. The advert does not provide completed contact details, a WhatsApp number or an application link. Ask the employer which channel to use for your application and questions.
